9 months ago I was sitting in this same room with tears
running down my face. I was about to leave the nest and start my own journey of
life 7 hours away from my precious home and family. I dreaded everything about
it. I would live with my parents forever if I could. I had a group of Christian
friends that could not be found anywhere else in the entire world. I worried
that I wouldn’t fit in. Wouldn’t make friends. Would cry every day because I
missed home so much. A little farm in Southwest Kansas had always been my home
and I was not ready to give it up for the big city.
Now I sit in this room with new tear stains on my face. This
time for a different reason. God blessed me way more than I could have ever
imagined. The first goodbyes to my family were very tough and I did miss them a
lot, but He gave me a group of friends like I had never known. Friends that
spent every second of every day together. Laughed together. Laughed at each
other. Prayed for each other. Served God together. Numerous faculty and
upperclassmen told us they had never seen a group of friends like ours at
school. I miss them.
My favorite memories…
Playing Lazer Tag
Spring Formal
Squeezing at least 9 people around a small round table at
lunch every day
Playing Fish Out of Water until 1:00 AM at a local park.
Watching movies
Playing Cards
P90X Workouts
Study Parties at Red Mango
Countless hours in the Library
Saving Bunnies
Midnight runs to Burger King
Sharing our Testimonies around a campfire
Sitting in the middle of a corn field praying for each others
summers
I still love Southwest Kansas more than any place in the
world, but now a little part of my heart belongs to 10 other people.
